What you will need:
- Castor Oil
- Flannel or cotton cloth – no synthetic blends
- Heating pad or hot water bottle
- Plastic sheet or plastic bag
Optional:
- Towel and/or additional plastic
Note Castor Oil is thick, caution is necessary to protect your clothes.
- Get your hot water bottle or heating pad ready.
- Get in position sit or lie down. You can sit up for hands and arms lie down for abs and legs. Protect your couch or bed if need be with a towel or plastic from oil that may escape from treatment. Use common sense and adapt to your liking.
- Apply generous amount of oil directly to the body part.
- Take a piece of flannel or all cotton cloth and place it over the area being treated. Apply a coat of oil directly over cloth and/or let it saturate with oil on body.
- Cover the pack with plastic.
- Place the heating pad or hot water bottle over the pack and let it sit for at least 30-60 minutes. Make sure you do not over heat the body. First time do less time: Use your mind to take in the experience of the warm soothing heat and the Castor Oil working on your body. During this time you can rest or read a book.
- When the time is up, remove the pack. If oil remains you can clean the area with water and a bit of baking soda.
- You can keep the pack in a plastic bag, sealed jar in a cool place or the refrigerator to use again. It is good for several days. Just add a few tablespoons of castor oil for the next session.
- Note: if you have a recent injury/inflammation heat is not a timely application.
